Plot Overview
Ethan Renner (Kevin Costner) is a veteran, terminally ill CIA operative who decides to retire from his dangerous career to reconnect with his estranged wife Christine (Connie Nielsen) and teenage daughter Zooey (Hailee Steinfeld) in Paris. Knowing he only has months to live due to brain cancer, Ethan hopes to make up for years of absence.
However, an elite and mysterious CIA assassin named Vivi Delay (Amber Heard) offers him a deal: in exchange for completing one final high-stakes mission—tracking down an international terrorist known as “The Wolf”—she will give him an experimental drug that could extend his life.
Ethan finds himself juggling two absurdly conflicting lives simultaneously: executing brutal interrogations and firefights across Paris while trying to teach Zooey how to ride a bicycle, giving her relationship advice, and dealing with side effects from the experimental injection.
