Plot Overview
Set in 2032, Flynne Fisher (Chloë Grace Moretz) lives in rural North Carolina, caring for her sick mother while earning extra money alongside her brother Burton (Jack Reynor) by playing high-level VR simulations for wealthy clients.
When Burton receives an advanced, secret prototype VR headset from a mysterious company, Flynne tests it out. She finds herself controlling a avatar in a breathtaking, hyper-realistic version of London in the year 2099. However, Flynne quickly learns this isn’t a virtual game: the device physically projects her consciousness into a synthetic body (a “peripheral”) 70 years in the future—a world rebuilding after a slow-motion apocalyptic event called “The Jackpot.”
After Flynne witnesses a real-world murder while piloting the peripheral, powerful political and corporate forces in 2099 place a bounty on her life. Mercenaries are sent back to her 2032 timeline, forcing Flynne and her military-trained brother to fight off high-tech assassins while untangling a time-bending conspiracy.
